Prezi is an internet based presentation application. It is similar to PowerPoint and Keynote in idea and ease, however there is so much more to this program. The strength of this particular program lies in the ability to graphically arrange a large amount of content or a big idea with its supporting information. As of September, 2010, Prezi has also added live collaboration so multiple people can edit a presentation at the same time. With the popularity and educational benefits of using graphic organizers with your students, why not use a presentation tool that does the same thing? It is visually interesting, fun to use, and creates very dynamic presentations. You can also view Prezis created by others and use them as templates for your own work. Check out the sample created by the TF Edge team here.

In the Classroom
This application is easy to navigate. Choose a background, follow the instructions and prompts of the program, and before you know it, you will have your very own Prezi to share with your classes. If you like to see directions, watch the quick intro video. A side note here, if you use a MAC system, you will need to use Opera or Safari to edit your Prezi. Collaborators on a presentation must all ne members of Prezi. You can then "invite" collaborators to a "meeting" to work on the same Prezi in real time. This tool would be an asset to any teacher; however, if you are one of the lucky ones (or smart ones) who uses Learning Focused Schools or teaches with essential ideas, it is invaluable. You could map your entire lesson, chapter or unit on one Prezi. Once you introduce the concept with this tool, you can go back to it often with your students as you move to different parts of the unit. It would provide a great review if you were doing this on your interactive whiteboard or projector. Or, you could post this to your wiki, web page, or even give kids the URL of the Prezi that you have created for them so that they can review as often as they need it. However, you do not have to stop there. Try having the students map a concept or chapter with this tool. In history class, create time-lines of relevant events to the curriculum. Have students create Prezis for different events, and then have them post the link of their product to a class blog or wiki. Add a peer review component and require students to comment on at least two other Prezis. The possibilities are endless!
